A note about Intercession - Rosie

BIG PRAYER REQUEST:

Dave's family has been deeply shaken at the news about his brother Stephen. Stephen has been removed from his pastorate and is facing criminal charges now. He is deeply repentant, but will be facing massive consequences for not allowing Holiness to penetrate the depths of his heart. Interestingly, just before he was confronted about his sins he was praying to God that "Whatever it takes to make me holy, Lord, please do it!" God has answered this prayer, but the consequences of Stephen's sin continue to loom. Satan has struck a deep blow at Stephen and his family, the church, the denomination, and many others in the life of our family. The burden is very heavy, for Dave's parents and for the brothers and their families. The burden is heaviest upon Amy, Stephen's wife, and his four young children. Please pray for them, and thank God that their strength through this has been an example of holiness and love. Thank our God that He is in the business of turning tragedy into good for those who love and trust Him. And then trust Him to do it in all of our lives and the lives of many others. We are praying that this situation becomes a spring board for revival in accountability and Holiness, and that Satan will rue the day that he chose to tempt Christian leaders into such evil ways. Pray also that those whose faith is already weak would be surrounded in love and strengthened by mature Christians in practical ways.

Older Praise reports:
Praise after praise! We are receiving wonderful feedback about our deputation opportunities. People say their faith is strengthened by hearing all of the wonderful things God is doing around the world. This is a big praise since it was such a struggle to put together! God is GOOD!

God has provided wonderful transportation blessings: planes, cars, vans. Thank you for your prayers

Praise: Curt is happily married to Beth. Pray for Curt Luthye in the Caribbean. He is very busy right now with Work and Witness meetings around the country. Pray for blessings upon him!

PRAISE GOD! See above! What a great story!
It would be nice to find a good mechanic around here. We have over $1,600 of work that needs to be done on the van! We have no air conditioning, and summer is coming!

Pray that we will continue to build our deputation account so that we have the funds needed for the special projects on the field that we might need.

Praise! We attended a BBQ in Cabot, Arkansas and met a mechanic named Leon -- actually he went out of his way to come over and tell us he wanted to fix our van!! Praise God for your prayers and for Leon. This man single-handedly saved us $1,300!! That happens to be one of the largest "deputation offerrings" ever given to us! Thansk for your paryers -- wow! And is air conditioning nice in Southern climes? Ask Rosie!
1. Our car is getting the air conditioning fixed next weekend, pray that it will be cheap! (The original quote was $1,600! Ugh!

Praise! We have now received an address where we will be living. The Kosters, a wonderful couple, are downsizing just for us, and have sent us some wonderful pictures of where we will be staying, and Mary Alice has been coordinating the furnishings and other things. We feel that these answers to prayer are a blessing from our God through your prayers.
2. The housing situation in the Caribbean. Lots of little complexities need to be ironed out.

Thank you for your prayers! Rosie was aksed to stay behind for a week-long meeting while Dave went on ahead to Kentucky and his brother Peter's house. Rosie joins him soon, so that will be nice. The studies are finsihed and all of our newly met missionary friends have already headed out, so I guess it's time to go! Time flies!
3. We are finishing up here this next week and then heading out on a slow route to Miami. Packing and traveling mercies would be wonderful!

Keep praying! :)
4. We have learned more about our respective jobs in the Caribbean - it looks rather intimidating! Pray for God's guidance in Literature, Personnel, Compassionate ministries, and Computer stuff.

Praise: You could keep praying here, but we have really been more focused in prayer ourselves (see below) and have seen our inter-personal stress disappear amidst the weight of another tragedy. But that is good in a way, as we see the strengths in each other and are blessed by God in our relationship.
5. For stress-related emotions to be minimal and God-directed responses to be maximized. That's always a good thing eh?

Still no word on this one, other than Grace being sad the her little "mama kitty" ran away. 6. Oh, we lost Grace's kitty in one of the churches we visited. It would be REALLY nice if it showed up again! :

We realize more and more the need for good childcare in the Caribbean. Please pray!

Pray for Curt Luthye in the Caribbean. He is very busy, but he has also just gotten engaged, so now will need to learn all of the lessons associated with balance. Pray for blessings upon him!

We also would ask for prayer concerning our health. We have seen many missionaries that have had to return for that reason alone, and would like to be prayed-up in that area!

Thank you so much for those who have been praying for us even though we haven't had updates for a while. Since starting classes, life has been non-stop. We did get the privilege of attending the Nazarene M-7 conference on missions this week. We were able to visit with our Pastor Holland Lewis and friends Molly Bales, Robert Fleming, and Lisa and Luis Rodriguez. It was an inspirational time and wonderful to learn more of the amazing things God is doing around the world! One of these friends also treated us to a Kansas City BBQ -- but we won't give Robert away so that he can get treasures in Heaven for it too! Thanks so much!!!

Our family has recovered from its colds. Praise the Lord for good night's sleep again!

Please pray for our family as we will be traveling this next weekend March 2nd to attend Dave's brother's wedding in Portland.
Pray that the girls will enjoy flying sine they will make 3 trips to the Northwest between now and mid-April.
Praise! The girls LOVE flying, way more than their dad does! See pictures from Wright City!

Please pray for Dave and me as we start our deputation tour this weekend March 4th at Gig Harbor Church of the Nazarene.

Please pray for us this week as we have 2 book reports to write and need to contact 5 people not native to the US who are willing to be interviewed once a month while we are here.

Classes! They started today and now we have homework on top of everything else!
We also have to interview three people of other faith backgrounds and cultures this quarter, in two classes! I think the term paper looks easier! :)

The ladies in our family would recover from their bad colds!
Praise! All three slept MUCH better last night (2/7) and have more energy today!

*A committed group of people that will hold us up in prayer! Thanks!
We have recently received some very encouraging e-mails about people praying for us. What a special privilege!

*Praise: Amazing lessons provided by World Missions! Wow!

*Anna and Grace will enjoy the childcare provisions and flourish here.
Praise: Grace is doing really well with childcare! Anna still cries when we leave her, but likes it.

*Parents and previous Ministries will find new ways that God is moving to fill any emptiness felt by our call to leave.

*Development of the Taste of the Caribbean program and partners!
Praise: someone has called us and offered to try to schedule one! Pray for more!

*Deputation requests and the warm response of pastors.
Our letters have now been sent out. On Friday we begin following up. Please pray!
Praise: We were able to meet with Pat Braselton who helped us clarify what we are likely to be doing on the field with Literature! What a big job!!
