Have you ever Read Mark Quanstrom's book "A Century of Holiness"? It is a fantastic read for understanding the Nazarene church and the Holiness doctrine. However, at one point he uses a broken down memorial in Kansas City to describe what the fervor for holiness and the optimistic view on life in Christ once was, as opposed to a more somber and realistic view now. Well, that memorial is now completely rebuilt and looks fabulous! Maybe the Holiness message still needs some people to invest their lives and reinvest in a fervor for Christ like they have for the memorial? Hmm, I feel a sermon coming on! :)
Grace also got a LINKS card from the Torrence church on the Anaheim District! Thanks so much!!
OK, I'm not sure if this should go on a website or not, but Grace had been talking about "giving a part of my money into teh offering thing (she says "sing") when it comes around in church." We said she could do this, and when the Torrence church sent us a wonderful gift with the card she was determined to give some of that. So, we took it to church, and then realized we did not have 5 ones. While we were searching, Grace came up with an ingenious method of giving a portion to the Lord...
...and tore the five dollar bill into pieces! It's a keeper now! Yes, we helped her replace that, but what a special way to remember your first offering huh? :) Well, then it was off to Kentucky where we were to house and baby sit my brother's three kids. Wouldn't you know it, Rosie's first official duty became to stay and attend a Personnel Coordinator's meeting, so Dave got to do the 10 hour trip on his own, and be with these 'lil rascals! Are they cute or what?
Asriel (center) had a school play in which she was 'lil red riding hood.
Here we are at Peter and Rebecca's house in Wilmore, Kentucky. Peter is a Communications professor there and has finished his M.Div. work at the seminary as well!
So how does "Uncle Dave" keep all these kids in line? He doesn't, he sits 'em around the table and keeps them happy! Shhhh...Don't tell uncle Peter they get ice cream every night now! :) I guess if they get a little hyper it's my fault huh?
These kids really are great, and we have been blessed by God that He has placed them in our path on the way to Miami so we could spend so much time with them. They all love playing with each other, and can't wait to see Aunt Rosie and have mommy and daddy get back so we can all be together! yay! |
